Coping With Hair Loss

Does hair loss run in your family or you suspect that you are at risk for hair loss and want to do all you can to prevent it from happening? Try not to be anxious because there are some things that you can try to help keep your scalp healthy and possibly prevent hair loss.

One thing that prevents a lot of conditions is to feed your body a nutritious diet. Good nutrition is healthy fuel for the cells of your body including those that aid hair growth.

You can also help prevent hair damage by being careful about how you style your hair. Try to air-dry hair naturally instead of using electrical hair dryers, avoid hair styles that tend to pull your hair tight such as braids, cornrolls, ponytails and buns. Do all you can to avoid compulsive handling of your hair such as twisting, pulling or rubbing your hair. The only over-the-counter non-prescription medication that can promote new hair growth or prevent future hair loss is minoxidil (Rogaine).

If you are noticing hair loss you can do two things to help minimize the loss or prevent future loss: Talk with a doctor to see if a cause for your hair loss can be determined. Finding the cause of your hair loss will open possible prevention techniques for future hair loss and may even lead to ways of re-growing hair in the areas where you have suffered hair loss. You can also seek out advice from professional hairstylists about different styling techniques to hide thinning or balding hair as well as wigs or hairpieces to be used to help minimize the appearance of thinning or balding hair.

Anyone who has lost hair faces the challenge of dealing with changes in their physical appearance. Hair loss can lead to various emotions such as embarrassment, anger and can lead to stress and emotional trauma especially for children and teens.

It may help you to cope if you can understand why you are losing your hair and can become involved in the treatment process. Make sure that you discuss any new treatments or alternative methods that you come across because not all methods are compatible with others and some can even are harmful or have unpleasant adverse reaction with other medications you may be taking.

Educating others about your hair loss may lessen embarrassment when others become more compassionate through knowledge.

There are usually local hair loss support groups that you can join. These groups are good sources of information and you can gather not only support but also comfort from sharing your experiences with others going through similar experiences.

Knowledge and treatment can lead to acceptance and comfort, which should ease any anxiousness you have about your hair loss experience.

Hair Regrowth Shampoo – How It Works

A large percentage of our population, both men and women, experience more than normal hair loss. There are drugs available to minimize hair loss and encourage new hair growth, but not everyone is comfortable using these products. Natural hair regrowth formulas that rely on plant based materials are readily available for the reduction of hair loss and new hair growth. The most effective products will be those whose ingredients block the production of DHT on the scalp. So, what does regrowing hair have to do with DHT?
DHT, or Dihydrotestosterone, is produced by the body when the hormone testosterone and an enzyme called 5 alpha reductase combine. Another hormone called androgen, which is known to have a significant impact on the growth of hair on the body, is adversely affected by DHT. When the two mix, the common result is hair loss. Both men and women have these hormones and enzymes naturally occurring in their systems. Hormonal changes in the body frequently alter the metabolism of these hormones, which can result in male hair loss beginning in the early years, and women may experience hair loss in later years as they approach menopause.

At the base of each hair in the scalp, is a hair follicle that is nourished by the body and the capillaries to grow healthy hair. The presence of DHT prevents proper nourishment to be delivered to the hair follicle. The longer the hair follicles remain undernourished, they are unable to continue the growing phase for the hair and the follicles reproduce more slowly. Over time the hair follicle may get smaller and smaller until the hair finally falls out and the follicle is unable to grow new hair.

Hair restore shampoos and treatments must do three things:

  1. Include ingredients with natural DHT blockers
  2. Keep hair follicle pores from becoming clogged
  3. They deliver nutrients to the hair follicles to stimulate growth

Effective hair regrowth shampoos contain ingredients that are natural DHT blockers and are typically very mild. These shampoos focus on cleansing your scalp and nourishing the hair follicles. Since many of them are made from the most natural ingredients, they tend to be non-toxic and provide much needed amino acids, proteins and minerals that your body needs to grow healthy hair. Another bonus is that these natural shampoos do not leave harmful residues on your scalp which contribute to blocked hair follicle pores.

After rigorous testing, the FDA has approved two ingredients as proven DHT blockers and new hair regrowth stimulators. They are finasteride and minoxidil; however, while many people are concerned about the side effects of these ingredients, they are wary of natural products that make similar claims for hair regrowth. Many plants and plant derivatives have been used to maintain healthy hair and scalps in humans since ancient times. The fact that no one wants to pay the FDA to test these un-patentable plants in the same way it has tested finasteride and minoxidil, does not mean that the properties in these plants is not effective for hair growth. Many people experience beneficial results from the use of plant based hair restore products.

Essential oils have been popular since ancient times in the production of hair preparations and are just as popular today in modern hair care formulas. Rosemary has been known to restore strength and shine to lifeless looking hair. The leaves of the bay tree and stinging nettles are popular in the treatment of dandruff and other flaking scalp conditions. Both lavender and tea tree oil are known to have anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. Studies have been done on an herb called saw palmetto. It acts as a natural 5 alpha reductase inhibitor to prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT. This herb works similarly to the way finasteride works to inhibit DHT production.

Use common sense when reading the claims of the various natural hair regrowth products, shampoos and scalp treatments. There are a number of reputable manufacturers of these natural, plant based products who will provide independent study information to support the efficacy of the ingredients they use in their products. You may discover that your body responds more favorably with one product over another. Because of the relative low cost of many of these preparations, it is affordable to try several of them before settling on a particular product that you want to use regularly.

Ms. Granley studies and keeps abreast of new hair loss and hair regrowth products available on the market. Having a family history of hair loss, she and fellow sufferers have experienced significant results from hair regrowth shampoo products. Visit Best Hair Regrowth for an array of effective products to restore and grow healthy hair.

How Biotin Hair Loss Therapies Work

The Biotin hair loss remedy is a doctor’s suggested vitamin used for curing hair loss. Biotin, B-vitamin is found in rich foods like soy, milk, egg yolks and liver. It is a natural dietary supplement that helps repair hair loss and keep skin and nails looking healthful.

To prevent hair loss from happening, 2mg of biotin is recommended by Andrew Lessman. While Biotin is helps mainly with your metabolism, it works really well to combat high cholesterol too.

While biotin effectively maintains the health of your hair, it is best taken with other B-vitamins. Choline, frolic acid, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12 are included as other B-vitamins.

The duplication and building of our body’s cells relies on Biotiin, so if you are losing hair, make sure your medication contains biotin. Biotin is a vitamin that is used to make fatty acids and release energy from fat, protein, and carbohydrate molecules.

Here are biotin’s primary sources: kidneys, milk, butter, cheese, poultry, cauliflower, bananas, watermelon, peas, brewer’s yeast, nuts, beans, oat bran, and oily fish. In order to avoid hair loss, consume a diet of rich items to provide a balance of biotin.

Washing hair with biotin-containing shampoo may also stimulate its growth. One reason why Biotin supplements are often recommended by dermatologists is due to the fact that thousands of calories need to be consumed in order to keep your hair healthy.

Biotin is effective in helping keep hair healthy, because it gives the body the protein it needs. More effective when used with other B-vitamins, one negative aspect of Biotin is that it hasn’t been proven 100% effective.

Before using Biotin clients should do some study or consult a dermatologist to be taught about the product. Taking prescription drugs with Biotin should be done with caution. Some consumers have become ill due to bad side effects from taking these supplements, the result being Biotin deficiency.

Not having adequate Biotin can very often lead to nausea, anorexia and depression. Biotin is an herbal nutritional product, so you would suppose the supplements to be safe. But because a large amount of Biotin hair loss treatments aren?t FDA-approved, you’re using them at your own risk.

If hair loss is badly affecting your life, then why don’t you buy Provillus? This natural hair loss treatment has helped thousands of men and women with their hair loss concerns.

There Are Different Reasons For Hair Loss In Men And Women

Men seem to have a wide collection of responses about causes of baldness. Some may be humorous and almost all are just plain wrong. Reasons for thinning hair in women are less well known even though hair loss in women can be much more emotionally devastating.

We all know that most men who loose their hair do so from male pattern baldness. This is a natural situation that can be blamed on genetics more than any other cause. Accepting natural reasons for lack of hair does not eliminate the personal impacts of a prematurely exposed cranium. Drug companies and hair restoration practices make enormous profits each year by exploiting hair loss insecurity.

A relatively unknown condition called female pattern baldness contributes to thinning hair in up to two thirds of women. Among the many causes for hair loss, female pattern baldness is somewhat less emotional. The condition does not cause near complete baldness or the receding hairline seen in men. The hair thins significantly but somewhat evenly over the scalp; sometimes leaving the scalp partially visible through the thin hair.

Some lesser known reasons for baldness exist. Many of these causes are treatable and even reversible. Emotional stress, anxiety, fatigue and poor nutrition are all known reasons for thinning hair. These causes can be treated by taking time to rest and finding ways to reduce stress at work or in life. Hair loss stops when the stress and fatigue are eliminated.

There are several physical reasons for hair loss. These include hormonal imbalance; vitamin deficiencies and menopause. Realizing that menopause can cause some hair loss should ease your mind about the extra hair in the sink. Hair loss due to menopause often returns to normal 6 months to two years later – according to the National Institute of Health.

Hormonal imbalances are treatable with medication and vitamin deficiencies, once they are identified, are easily managed with supplements.

Among the reasons for hair loss in children the side effects of drug or radiation treatment is most common. When a child is loosing hair or presenting bald spots without the chemo or radiation therapy the condition is called alopecia areata. This could be from a skin condition or a hormone imbalance. A visit with a medical professional is called for.

The most common cause of baldness in children involves cancer treatments such as chemo-therapy or radiation. This is expected and medical staff will both prepare the child and help the child deal with the loss. If a child is experiencing unexplained bald spots the condition is sometimes called alopecia areata. Some causes of these bald patches are certain skin conditions or hormonal imbalances. A visit with a doctor or dermatologist is called for.

Male Pattern Baldness – Causes, Symptoms and Hair Regrowth Treatment

By far the most common cause of male hair loss is Androgenetic Alopecia, commonly referred to as Male Pattern Baldness or MPB. Affecting an estimated 85% of men over the age of 50, Male Pattern Baldness is an inherited condition, usually the result of hormonal imbalances and results in the characteristic receding hairline and visibly thinning hair on the crown of the scalp.

Male Pattern Baldness is usually caused by an androgen, or male hormone called Dihydrotestosterone. Dihydrotestosterone is a form of Testosterone produced by the 5-alpha enzyme and has a particularly debilitating effect on hair follicles. Follicles affected by Dihydrotestosterone have a shorter growth cycle and eventually lose the ability to grow hair altogether.

As more and more hair follicles are affected by the DHT, hair loss becomes noticeable along the hairline, which eventually takes on the “M” shape characteristic of DHT hair loss. Gradually, hair on the crown of the head starts to thin, eventually joining with the receding hairline, leaving a ring of hair around the sides of the head. Some hair usually remains and continues to grow on the sides and back of the head, as hair follicles there are more resistant to DHT damage.

This is the characteristic hair loss pattern so indicative of male pattern baldness and DHT hair loss. Other causes of hair loss in men such as Alopecia Areata, Folliculitis or hair loss due to other more serious medical conditions form different hair loss patterns and cannot be mistaken for MPB.

Reducing the amount of DHT present around the hair follicles would seem to be the most logical treatment for the condition and this is exactly the tack medical science has taken. Clinical studies into the effectiveness of DHT blockers are numerous and the evidence supporting this route is numerous. The FDA has gone to far as to add one such DHT blocker, Minoxidil, to its list of approved hair regrowth ingredients.

DHT blockers are also evident in naturally occurring herbs and plants such as Saw Palmetto for example. This remarkable little berry contains fatty acids and Phytosterols which not only block the production of DHT but also prevent the worst effects of existing DHT. These properties have made the humble Saw Palmetto berry a firm favorite in the fight against male pattern baldness.

Other plant extracts such as oil extracts from Pumpkin Seeds and Nettle Root also have valuable properties as DHT blockers. Particularly in combination with Saw Palmetto, these natural DHT inhibitors provide effective ingredients in the treatment of Dihydrotestosterone induced hair loss.

Androgenetic Alopecia is a complex condition and the best remedy is a combination hair regrowth treatment. Reducing or even eliminating the creation of DHT and also providing the proper nutrients for hair follicles to thrive and have healthy growth cycles.

To be truly effective, a hair regrowth treatment should start with a proven DHT blocker such as Minoxidil and combine this with effective plant extracts such as Saw Palmetto and Pumpkin Seed Oil, to attack the condition at the root. Dihydrotestosterone. Add vital nutrients such as Vitamins and Minerals and you have an effective treatment for the worst effects of male pattern baldness.

Vitamin Deficiency & Hair Loss – You Should Know This

While many of us don’t always eat right, not a lot of us realize how poor our diet is. Vitamin deficiencies can cause everything from scurvy to rickets, but did you know that vitamin deficiency may even be connected to hair loss? This article will explain more if you read further, and will endeavor to examine what you should try in terms of giving your body the right kind of nutrients so that you don’t end up losing more hair than you’ve already lost.

Most of us are lacking in several necessary nutrients that promote new hair growth and preserve existing hair.

B6 is probably the most important vitamin when it comes to hair growth. We know also that it is instrumental for protein absorption and the production of red blood cells. It strengthens our nervous and immune systems and helps us to increase our oxygen levels and maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Biotin is another B vitamin necessary for nurturing radiant skin, lustrous hair and firm nails. Many of us lack in Biotin also. In addition, zinc and magnesium are a few minerals that play a role in thinning hair.
Herbal ointments have been applied for centuries as a remedy for hair loss and herbs such as Saw Palmetto, Nettle Root and Horsetail have been verified by current day research to be effective.

If you desire to find out more information about help for hair loss using these organic substances that will benefit new hair growth, go to my website below.

Hair Loss Is a Natural Part Of The Body’s Process.

Although perhaps not desirable, hair loss is quite normal. The list of all the possible causes is exceedingly long but it is a common problem that affects millions of men, women, and children. Although there are a number of fancy names for types of hair loss, the correct medical term is Alopecia. The most common type of hair loss in men is genetic; known as male pattern baldness, it affects close to 95 percent of males.

Moderate hair loss on the other hand which is obviously rarer may simply be a matter of adjusting your diet. Exposure to chemicals or cosmetics, hormonal imbalance, stress, anxiety and mental tension are some of the other causes. Permanent loss usually occurs when the hair follicles themselves are damaged. Often considered as a purely male problem, in America women actually make up forty percent of people that suffer with some form of the condition.

Many women’s hair loss may be caused by a thyroid condition which seems to affect them more often later in life. It is not just in America where four in every ten women will suffer from it because this is a global figure for women by the time they reach sixty. Pregnant women are sometimes susceptible to some hair loss often lasting until after the child is born. If you always thought that patterned hereditary baldness was a male problem then you will be surprised to learn that in America approximately 30 million women also suffer from this condition.

A new but a treatment that is becoming increasingly popular is surgical hair restoration; it is considered the ultimate solution for those who suffer with permanent hair loss. Simply put, it is the transplantation of healthy hair follicles from one area of the scalp to another.

The process only requires local anesthesia and is carried out on an out-patient basis but has become one of the most regular forms of hair restoration for men. It is now possible for women to enjoy this hair restoration treatment that men have been using but it is becoming popular for women who also wish to hide some scarring caused by previous facelifts.

The most successful hair transplants are those where the recipient tries to maintain his original looks and not to attempt to appear like someone else. Existing medical conditions could cause problems so these must be sorted out before any hair transplant treatment is considered.
While cosmetic surgery does include hair restoration as one of its sub-fields, this is a different form of cosmetic treatment available. If all other hair treatment therapies have failed then it’s possible that a surgical hair transplant might be the only permanent solution available for your hair loss condition.

Hair Loss Causes

The word balding does not get used as much today but hair loss is primarily a genetic trait which members of the same family suffer although there are other factors involved, it may take quite a while for science to find a genetic cure to the problem. Generally male or female pattern baldness or hair loss is inherited although only gene therapy can help with it but this is not the only reason for balding. Hair follicles on certain areas of the man’s head are more likely to be affected by increased male sex hormone as they get older and the hair follicles in these areas suffer from what could be considered an overdose of hormones.
So the hair loss really occurs when male and female hormones are not in the correct proportions. While this much is known, where hair loss is a genetic trait there isn’t as yet a way to cure it.

Male and female-pattern baldness is the most common form of hair loss and is caused by a hormone called DHT, a naturally occurring hormone that helps in sexual development but treatments are available. To control this problem there are shampoos like Rogaine and tablets that control the level of DHT in the hair follicles like Propecia. Of course hair replacement treatments like transplant surgery are generally successful as the hair from the areas where the DHT level is higher are replaced by hair from other areas of the head that are not as sensitive to the hormone.

Our hair actually stops growing for a couple of months or so during a 2 to 6 year cycle and around one tenth of our hair is in this state at any one time. It must be noted that hair loss is quite normal and hair can grow over 1 centimeter each month during the growing phase but there are people that, owing to other reasons, will lose more than this per month.

Many reasons for hair loss are circulated like wearing a hat, stress, sweat or even poor circulation but these are all untrue. While it is possible to lose hair through stress, this has to be extreme like that caused by torture for example and not everyday stress and generally, when this occurs, the condition is reversible.

Certain other situations can also cause hair loss like medical treatment using chemotherapy, scalp infections, depression pills and hormone tablets and even diabetics can suffer with the problem. A permanent solution to hair loss might take sometime and while many people wait anxiously for it, they will have to use what science has devised so far.
