How is a surgical hair transplant performed?

Answered By Hal Quixley

It is usually performed in a clinic and is done by professional doctors and surgeons. A machine is responsible for the hair implants. First, the doctors may inject lidocaine on the scalp or if you want it to be more painless, you can choose to be sedated before the treatment. The machine will automatically implant five or more strands of hair until the whole scalp to be treated is full.

After the treatment, the patient is not allowed to wet his head in several days. This allows the wounds to heal and effectively hold the hair that is implanted on the scalp.
