Hair Loss - Baldness in women

By Terri-Leigh Bennett

It's one of the worst thing a man has to cope with is the thinning of his hair.

However the common perception that baldness and thinning is something that only men experience in their mid-thirties and above...

Many women suffer from baldness too; and although it is terrible for men, its devastating for women to experience hair loss!

Although, female pattern baldness is quite different to male pattern baldness; womens hair loss tends to thin out throughout their entire scalp as opposed to one particular part as you find in men.

The impact this has on women is far worse than in men; because hair loss in women isnt accepted as the 'norm' in society.

Many women lose their self-esteem and confidence.

It is thought that 1 in 16 women in the United States will suffer from pattern baldness.

Although there are other reasons that women suffer hair loss other than pattern baldness:

* Pregnancy

* Birth control

* Illnesses

* Crash diets

* Severe trauma

* Stress

However pattern baldness is the MOST common cause for hair loss. As the case with men too; pattern baldness is HEREDITARY.

There are treatments for both male and female pattern baldness available over the counter. Many have been reported to stop hair loss, and in some cases even grow back!

However some people are turning to natures own remedies for help...Vitamins!

Vitamins play a significant role within our bodies and our hair and scalp is just one of them.

All of these vitamins are superb for thickening hair;

* B vitamins - especially B6

* Biotin

* Inositol

* Folic acid

* Minerals

* Magnesium

* Sulfur and zinc

B vitamins, especially B5 and B6 are exceptionally important for new hair growth.

Several essential amino acids are found to influence the thinning and thickening of hair, these can be found in your protein foods. (Meat etc).

You can buy all of these from your local pharmacy or chemist, so begin by adopting vitamins and minerals into your diet and Im certain it will give you some confidence back when your hair begins to thicken!
